Some examples of current and recent assignments we have been busy with are:
Public Listed Australian Property Development Company – Board Search
Given the expansion of the company’s activities in Melbourne, Boardroom Partners has been engaged by a Western Australian property development company to assist in the appointment of an independent non-executive director, to be based in Melbourne. We are in the process of sourcing a selection of qualified candidates across a range of relevant industries.
Aeronautical Technology Company – Board Search
Boardroom Partners was hired by a listed technology company based in Western Australia to source candidates with a unique skill set balanced with listed company experience and an appetite for growth. As the company grows and moves into global production, the shape and composition of its board needs to change. We have identified ten boardroom candidates, one has been appointed and another is being finalised.
Not-for-Profit Association – Board Search
Boardroom Partners has been approached by a peak philanthropic association to assist in increasing the strength of its board. It is the first time this organisation has sought the assistance of an external and independent advisor to search for candidates who can extend its influence nationally and improve its profile.
Professional Health Association – Board Review
Our expertise as an independent and external facilitator in boardroom review has also been sought by a professional health association. This will require an electronic questionnaire, interviews, a team workshop and formal report on our findings to identify areas for improvement. With the pending departure of the elected president, the overall desire is to leave a legacy of a ‘best practice’ board, one with a clear view of its role and the best way to go about its business.

Private School – Board Review & Search
We have been approached again by an independent school seeking our expertise in corporate governance and review of its Council. With a changing environment, the school now has a need for increased accountability of governance. Boardroom Partners’ first stage of involvement was to assist with a planning day where the school was reconsidering its role and strategies to move forward. This has now evolved to searching for two independent directors to balance the composition of its Council and we are also working with the Council to develop a strategic plan for the next 5 years.

National Not-for-Profit Organisation – Board Search
We have just successfully completed a search for a national not-for-profit organisation which was looking for two additional board members – their first independent directors to add to a board of elected member representatives. Two outstanding women have been selected to join the (currently) all male board and we are confident that they will make a difference and add a new perspective to the board’s considerations of matters before it.
Overseas Owned Company – Board Search
Another interesting search for us has been for an independent director for an overseas owned company looking to appoint a local director with a good knowledge of the Australian scene. We were able to provide a diverse short list to our client who commented that anyone of the preferred candidates could have done the job – but did go on the finally select one to recommend for appointment by the parent company.
National Member Association Organisation – Corporate Governance
We have also just successfully helped another national organisation with lots of member associations to agree operating protocols that will allow them to maximise the benefit of their current federated structure while retaining their independence and individual characters.
NSW Government Department – Corporate Governance
The team at Boardroom Partners travelled the state 13 community based boards appointed for particular expertise as residents in the area. It developed a training program specifically for government boards and enjoyed meeting the many and varied directors of these 13 boards.
NSW Government Authority – Board Review & Corporate Governance
Originally a Board Review, this assignment developed into assistance with a complete transformation as this not-for-profit organisation sold off its commercial arm to refocus on its original ‘public benefit’ objectives. This required a complete overhaul of the board – composition, structure and procedures.
Trustee Company - Board Search
The board of this Melbourne based company was looking for Sydney based directors to assist the business establish a real presence in the NSW market. Additionally, this board had not appointed any new directors for some years and was keen to appoint a female director. Boardroom Partners was engaged in the project and added another dimension to what was already an interesting search.
